It’s called: “Make the Leap to Home Business Success

If you are going to build a successful home business, you need 3 “intangibles.” These are things that must come from WITHIN you.

First, you must have a strong WHY.

Why must you make a home business work? What’s driving you? What is it that you CAN’T have in your life anymore and/or what is it that you absolutely MUST HAVE now?

For me, I couldn’t stand working 12+ hours a day anymore and missing the experience of my children growing up. I also absolutely HAD TO HAVE the freedom of being able to control my life and finances through a little box that I could carry with me anywhere in the world and not be tied to anyone’s time pressures or demands but my own. That was my carrot and my stick. I felt a great pain deep in my gut of missing out on my children’s lives and the incredible freedom that succeeding in this business would provide for me. I found my why. You MUST find yours.

You must BELIEVE that it is possible.

If you don’t believe that it’s POSSIBLE for you to succeed in a home business or make your living on the Internet, you won’t. It’s that simple.

For me, figuring out that it was possible was just a matter of realizing that many other people were ALREADY making great money with a home business online. If they could do it, I could too. It would just be a matter of figuring out what those people were doing and then adapting it to my situation.

There is no shortage of undeniable PROOF that people (millions of them) are making money online in many different ways. Just get online and do some research and you’ll find countless testimonials and stories of REAL PEOPLE making real money on the Internet. Or head to your local bookstore and you’ll find the same documented evidence of this fact. Truth is, it’s getting easier and easier to start and succeed in a home based business. This is primarily because of the Internet and affiliate marketing.

I’ve always said that “affiliate marketing” is the job of the future. In the “old” days, you had to go to a potential employer, apply for the position and hope for the best. Now you can simply go to any company you want, fill out their affiliate application and start work immediately. Affiliates are the new working class. Believe me, making money with affiliate programs or making your living on the Internet is WAY MORE than possible. It is pretty much (or will be soon enough) unavoidable now. Affiliate marketing is the “job” of the future that’s here TODAY.

You must be willing to MAKE THE LEAP.

Ready, FIRE, then aim… This is the operating philosophy you MUST adopt to succeed with an Internet home business.

That’s backwards for most people who like to aim before they fire. The fact is the Internet is a moving target… The only thing constant about it is change. You need to stop analyzing the game and simply jump into it. You can’t learn from the outside… You have to be IN THE RING to truly understand it.

The lesson here is that you will never really be READY to start a home based business. You simply have to start one. This is what I call “Making the Leap.”

The good news is that the cost of failure on the Internet is very small. In the “brick and mortar” world you need to evaluate things very carefully before you decide to open up a business. It’s almost always necessary to invest thousands of dollars to get an offline business off the ground. However, on the Internet you can often start a successful business for less than $100. You simply need get IN THE GAME… Each moment that you stay “out there,” you’re wasting valuable time that you could be learning and skills necessary to become a successful affiliate marketer. Each and every day as we are building our businesses, we all know the key to a successful presentation is a product being sold to the end-line consumer and/or sponsoring a new person. In an upcoming issue, I am going to write about the difference between making a sale and having customer loyalty in the sales process. In the sales process, you are fighting many different types of animals. For most of us who are in direct sales, you have 45 minutes to present a product/business concept and make a person believe in you, your product, and more importantly have them make a decision that they want what you are offering and you can do that through the power of storytelling.

The Power of Storytelling and Presenting Your Business

When you are presenting the business, it is very easy for you to get very factual and completely lose the interest of your prospect. When you use the power of storytelling about the success of someone who is using the product or have a person give a live testimonial about how much they love being a distributor, you will keep the interest of new people who are listening for the first time.

Show and Tell

For most of us, the first time in our lives that we were ever presented with the concept of a live audience was back in kindergarten when we played “show and tell”. Everyone was always interested in what you were saying because you were simply using the power of storytelling. We have all heard of the famous K.I.S.S. rule: Keep It Simple Stupid. When presenting your business or product, the key play is to tell a story and keep it simple. Everyone can relate to the grandmother, who can talk about their grandchild as the most beautiful, precious child in the world. She will make you feel as if her grandchild would be such a gift to own as your own. You need to take that same simplicity and utilize it during your presentation and create the same result – ownership of your product.

Facts Tell, But Stories Sell

As you explain through the power of storytelling, people will remember those stories versus all the facts in the world. “FACTS TELL, BUT STORIES SELL.” They should want to get involved in your business or purchase your product because all of the success stories that you told. People love to be part of a winning team. Storytelling keeps people tied into you and your presentation. I always say when in doubt during a presentation, tell a story in order to bring people’s attention back to you. When I present, I ALWAYS tell many stories because when I was first introduced to direct sales, what perked my ears was a story of a young lady who had a lifestyle I wanted. The personal story of her lifestyle is what made me decide to get involved in the business. So remember just use the the power of storytelling and tell your specific story and continue to tell your company’s story over and over!

Ways to Slim Down Your To-Do List

When you wake up in the morning do you think about ways to slim down your to-do list, do you already feel like you can’t accomplish everything that needs done? Or do you feel like no matter what you do, your to-do list just gets longer and longer? Well, you’re not alone.

Many people report feeling more busy and overwhelmed with all the tasks they face today than they did in the past. After all, there are only 24 hours in a day; how can we possibly get everything done that we want and need to?

To be honest, sometimes we can’t. However, just because we can’t check off every tiny, little thing on our checklist, that doesn’t mean we are failing. In fact, it can actually be a good thing. It can help you begin to figure out ways to slim down your to-do list and decide what’s really important.

Prioritize

Just like finding balance in anything, we have to prioritize our time and tasks. Consider the average college student. With homework, work, and social life, the student has to decide what is most important to them and then prioritize. It’s the same with the everyday to-do list.

Take a good look at everything that you have written down (or typed or mentally gathered). Start ranking your tasks. What’s the most important and what could be done later? Is it scheduling that meeting with your investors or planning out your marketing strategy for the next year? Could it be vacuuming the living room or finding a good daycare center? Based on each individual’s lifestyle and preferences, that will determine which tasks are most important. There is no one-size-fits-all in this case.

Once everything is ranked, choose the tasks you are going to do today, the ones you will do tomorrow or next week etc., and the ones that you shouldn’t worry about at all.

Delete the Unnecessary

How many times do we add tasks to our checklist that really don’t belong? Too often. Failing to recognize that will only add to our to-do list instead of ways to slim down. Hopefully, ranking will help you recognize those unnecessary tasks on your list.

Once you find them, cross them off. For example, if there’s a movie that you really want to see, don’t add that to your to-do list. By all means, plan to go see it but putting it on your to-do list will only make you stress out about it. You’ll feel like you have to see the movie and you probably won’t enjoy it as much. That may be a ridiculous example but you get the picture.

Make sure your to-do list isn’t full of unnecessary or superficial tasks. Rather, keep your list slimmed down to just the essential so you can focus on the tasks that matter most.

Ask for Help in Ways to Slim Down

Who said that you have to do everything on your own? You don’t and remembering this is key to slimming down your to-do list. If you are feeling overwhelmed at work with all of your tasks, then ask someone if they can help you out. Or even talk to your manager/boss if you have too much going on. Just remember to return the favor down the road.

Even at home, you can always ask for help. Whether that help comes from a spouse, other family, or a neighbor, it never hurts to ask. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with our to-do list when we feel like we have no one to turn to. While asking for help can be difficult, it will make things a lot easier and less stressful with ways to slim down your to-do list.

Begin Slimming Your To-Do List Today

It doesn’t take too much to begin to feel overwhelmed with tasks. Once your tasks start building up, you’ll feel like you are behind on everything before you know it. Stop that now. By prioritizing, deleting the unnecessary, and asking for help, you can start slimming down your to-do list immediately. Start now by deciding which tasks are the most important for today and make a plan to check them off.

Before you know it, you will have developed a useful habit for keeping your to-do list in check. You won’t feel overwhelmed by your list anymore and will be more effective at getting the most important things done.
